“My Lord, cause me to land at a blessed landing place, for You are the best of those who bring to land.”
Form: The imperative “anzilnee” (أَنزِلْنِي — cause me to land / set me down). A supplication to be recited upon entering a new house, city, journey or a new situation in life.
Tafsir of Sheikh Abd al-Rahman al-Saadi
Sheikh as-Saadi writes: “Allah commanded Nuh to utter this prayer when descending from the Ark. The Sunnah prescribes reciting it when settling in a new house or arriving in a new place.”
Tafsir of Imam Ibn Kathir
Ibn Kathir emphasizes: “This supplication contains a request for barakah (blessing) in the dwelling, in provision and in safety.”
Tafsir al-Baghawi
“…And say (O Noah): ‘My Lord, bring me down (to earth) in a blessed place…’ Abū Bakr, transmitting from ʿĀṣim, recited “manzilan” with a fatḥah on the mīm and a kasrah on the zāy; that is, what is meant is the place of descent. One opinion is that this refers to the Ark, when they boarded it. Another opinion is that it refers to the earth after they had disembarked. This place could be the Ark itself, or it could be the earth after they had disembarked.
Others recited “munzalan” with a ḍammah on the mīm and a fatḥah on the zāy; that is, a blessed descent. The blessing in the Ark was deliverance, while the blessing after leaving the Ark was abundant progeny from the three sons. “…and You are the best of those who provide a place to settle!”
In Sahih Muslim (No. 2708) it is reported from Khawlah bint Hakim that the Prophet (peace be upon him) recommended praying for protection when stopping at any new place.
