Gratitude in Paradise

“Praise be to Allah, who has removed sorrow from us! Indeed, our Lord is Forgiving, Appreciative, who has settled us in the home of permanence out of His bounty, where neither weariness nor fatigue touches us.”
Form: praise and prayerful gratitude (hamd) of the righteous upon entering the Gardens of Paradise.
Tafsir of Sheikh Abd al-Rahman al-Saadi
Sheikh as-Saadi writes: “The sorrow from which Allah delivered them is the fears of the Day of Judgement and worldly anxieties. In Paradise there is neither illness, nor fatigue, nor sorrow, only eternal happiness.”
Tafsir of Imam Ibn Kathir
Ibn Kathir explains: “They praise the Lord who forgave their numerous sins and rewarded them for their modest righteous deeds, bringing them into the abode of eternal peace.”
Tafsir al-Baghawi
“…And they will say…” That is, they will say this when they enter Paradise.
“‘Praise be to Allah, Who has removed sorrow from us!’” Sorrow is singular, just as stinginess is singular. Ibn ‘Abbas said: “Sorrow over the Fire.” Qatadah said: “Sorrow over death.” Muqatil said: “They were sorrowful because they did not know what Allah would do with them.”
‘Ikrimah said: “Sorrow over sins and evil deeds, and fear that their obedience would not be accepted.” Al-Qasim said: “Sorrow over blessings coming to an end, hearts being turned upside down, and fear of punishment.” It is also said: “Sorrow over the terrors of the Day of Judgment.”
Al-Kalbi said: “In worldly life, they were not grieved by what would happen on the Day of Judgment.”
Az-Zajjaj said: “Allah will remove from the people of Paradise whatever sorrow they may have, whatever its cause—whether it be something worldly or something on the Day of Judgment.” “‘Indeed, our Lord is truly Forgiving, Appreciative…’” “‘Who has settled us…’” He has placed us.
“‘…in the Abode of Eternity…’” that is, in the abode of everlasting residence.
“‘…by His bounty. No weariness will touch us there…’” That is, no exhaustion or hardship will befall us there. “‘…and no exhaustion will touch us there…’” Exhaustion resulting from weariness.
In “Sahih al-Bukhari” (No. 6549) it is narrated: “A herald in Paradise will cry out: ’Indeed, you will be healthy and will never fall ill, you will live and will never die!’”
