Forgiveness for All Believers

Form: the all-embracing form “ighfir lee” (اغفر لي) for oneself, one’s parents, close guests, and all believing men and women until the Day of Judgement.
Tafsir of Sheikh Abd al-Rahman al-Saadi
Sheikh as-Saadi writes: “Nuh combined in his supplication forgiveness for himself, his parents, the members of his household, and all believing men and women of all times and peoples.”
Tafsir of Imam Ibn Kathir
Ibn Kathir explains: “This is one of the most comprehensive supplications for the forgiveness of Muslims, encompassing all the living and the deceased monotheists.”
Tafsir al-Baghawi
“...My Lord! Forgive me and my parents...” His father’s name was Lamak ibn Mutawashalakh, and his mother’s was Samhaa bint Anush; they were believers.
“...and those who entered my house...” That is, my dwelling.
“...(being) a believer...” Ad-Dahhak and al-Kalbi said: into my mosque. There is also the opinion that it means into my Ark.
“...and (also) believing men and believing women...” This refers to everyone who believed in Allah and His angels and affirmed the truthfulness of the messengers.
“...And do not increase the wrongdoers in anything but destruction (in this world and in the Hereafter)!”... ruin and annihilation. Allah answered his supplication and destroyed them.
In “Sunan at-Tirmidhi” (No. 3534) it is narrated: “Whoever asks forgiveness for the believing men and women shall have a good deed recorded for every believer!”
